“This painting began without a particular place in mind, but as the layers built, it drew me back to hiking the Overland Track at Cradle Mountain. I remembered the fagus turning colour as autumn gave way to winter, dark water catching the light, and the wild, shifting mood of the landscape. Those memories found their way into the painting through colour, movement and marks - an expression of how the mountain felt to me, long after I’d left it.”
